Temperament
The Study
The Poodle began as a German water retriever — the famous clip was functional, insulating joints while lightening the coat for swimming. Standard Poodles rank among the most trainable of all breeds, excelling in obedience, agility and even truffle hunting. They are athletic, dignified and deeply attached to their people, with a playful streak that belies their aristocratic appearance. Their low-shedding coat makes them a common choice for allergy-aware households.
Care & Keeping
The non-shedding coat grows continuously and requires professional grooming every six to eight weeks plus regular brushing at home. Needs substantial daily exercise and enjoys swimming and retrieving.
