The Study
Bred for the brutal sport of bull-baiting, the Bulldog was reinvented after 1835 into one of the sweetest-natured of all breeds. Every feature — the undershot jaw, the rolling gait, the magnificent wrinkles — is a relic of that past. Today's Bulldog is docile, loyal and comically stubborn, happiest in repose beside its people. Its courage remains, but it is the courage of a devoted guardian rather than a fighter.
Care & Keeping
Minimal exercise needs — short walks in cool weather only, as the breed overheats easily. Facial folds need regular cleaning. Sensitive to heat and humidity; air conditioning is a friend.
