The Study
Developed in the Scottish Highlands by Lord Tweedmouth to retrieve waterfowl over both land and water, the Golden Retriever combines a soft mouth with an eager, biddable nature. Its dense, water-repellent coat and kindly expression are unmistakable. Goldens are famously patient with children and strangers alike, which makes them poor guard dogs but peerless family companions. They retain a puppyish enthusiasm well into maturity and thrive when given work — retrieving, obedience, or assistance duties.
Care & Keeping
Requires at least an hour of daily exercise and regular brushing to manage seasonal shedding. Prone to weight gain, so portions should be watched. Early socialisation and consistent, reward-based training bring out their best.
