The Study
Forged in the hill farms between England and Scotland, the Border Collie controls sheep with its legendary 'eye' — a hypnotic, stalking stare. Every modern trial champion descends from Old Hemp, the 1893 dog who defined the type. This is not a pet in the casual sense: the Border Collie's intellect and drive demand a job, whether herding, agility, flyball or advanced obedience. Without one, it will organise the household, the children and the furniture.
Care & Keeping
Needs hours of daily activity plus structured training. Excels in canine sports. The coat, rough or smooth, needs weekly brushing. Under-stimulated Collies develop obsessive habits.
